This page explains how The Houston Vendor uses information when you browse the directory, sign in, submit a listing, or contact a business.
Information you provide
We collect your account email and optional name, business listing details and photos, saved vendors and events, email preferences, and information you submit through contact, inquiry, claim, and removal forms. Business contact details and photos intended for your listing may be published. Private account details, ownership verification links, and moderation notes are not displayed as part of a public profile.
How we use information
We use information to operate the directory, verify email and listing ownership, let you manage listings and favorites, deliver inquiries, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and understand interest in vendors and events. Saved lists are not public profiles. Directory administrators can review saved-item activity to understand demand.
Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
Sign-in cookies keep you signed in. Browser storage can hold a signup draft and your organizer shortlist on your device; clearing browser data removes those local items. We record directory activity and errors, including visited paths, interactions, and a hashed visitor identifier. The website also loads an Auri Digital CRM/analytics script. Browser privacy controls may affect these features.
Services that help us run the site
We use Vercel for hosting and public photo storage, Neon for the database, Zoho for email delivery, Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention, and Auri Digital for CRM/analytics. These services may process information needed for their functions. Public photos and listing information can be seen or copied by visitors. Organizer websites and application forms linked from the directory have their own privacy practices.
Optional contributions and payment information
Contributions are processed on Stripe’s hosted checkout. Stripe processes payment details, billing email, receipts, and any monthly subscription information. We do not collect card numbers through the directory. Payment information is used to process your support and answer billing questions; contributing does not sign you up for marketing emails.
Email choices
Sign-in and verification emails are needed to use account features. Inquiry emails deliver messages relating to your business. The weekly new-event digest is optional for verified vendor listings; manage it in My account or use the unsubscribe link in an update email. Updating one listing does not automatically change the preferences on your other listings.
Corrections, access, and removal
You can edit your personal name, verified business details, photos, and saves after signing in. To change an email address, request a copy of your information, or request account removal, contact us. We may ask you to verify ownership before acting. Listing removal requests can also be submitted through the Opt out / remove listing page. Removing a listing and removing your account are separate requests.
Retention and security
We keep information needed to operate listings, accounts, inquiries, moderation, and backups. Contact us with a retention or deletion request; we will explain any information that needs to remain for operational or legal reasons. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Never share a sign-in or verification link.
Unclaimed listings and changes
Some listings are assembled from publicly available business information and labeled unclaimed. Authorized business representatives can claim, correct, or request removal of those listings. We may update this notice as the service changes; the update date appears above.
